Check These Out

Home Up

Old Rockers - Rusty Fusties who outlived 'Hear Say', 'S Club 7' and suchlike!
THE HAMSTERS - l'il old band from... ESSEX! -  one of my favourites (Make sure you see the 'little guy' graphic at the foot of the opening page - it says it all)

BUDGIE - Welsh rockers still going strong -got some nice pictures in there

WALTER TROUT - my other favourite

AVERAGE WHITE BAND - still doing the rounds, occasionally in your town too!

WISHBONE ASH - yes they're still going! In fact there are now 2 Wishbone Ash bands, the Andy Powell one and the Martin Turner one called WISHBONE - so there! Now you know

MAN Archive - more Welsh rockers, also available at their own MAN home page

BAD COMPANY - these guys come out of the woodwork occasionally

GLENN HUGHES - a hero from the days of Trapeze and Deep Purple

STRIFE - a history, with an occasional contribution by me

WILKO JOHNSON - Teach yourself how to play "She Does it Right" with his  downloadable lessons

ANDY FRASER - founder member and bass player of FREE, best designed web site I've ever seen. Nice little "FREE on TOTP" video if you look around JOHN MAYALL - daddy of them all! Buddy Whittington used to be his main guitar player - WELL WORTH a trip out
MICKY MOODY - former SNAFU and Whitesnake guitar player (among others) now doing his own thing - look for one of the first pictures of Paul Rodgers playing in a band with him in the history section THIN LIZZY - gateway to loads of information on folks like Gary Moore and Brush Sheils from Skid Row (the original Irish one, not the poor American rip-off) among all the expected Thin Lizzy necessaries in the Links page
FRUUPP - slightly theatrical musical heroes from Ireland. Brilliant music - had to be seen to be believed. JOE BONAMASSA - once again, here I am a mere recent convert to a guy I should have been listening to for ages - thanks to DJK for making me do it!

Lesser Known - but equally valued - buddies still doing the rounds - or not!

SLENDER LORIS - A bunch of guys who played at the Imperial for ages. Not my sound, but a legend in their own lunch time! FAR CANAL - some of Keith's buddies from his subsequent band(s) still treading the boards - be careful how you say this one - I think there's an innuendo in there! You'll see some nice guitars in the pictures
PHIL BRODIE BAND - Nice sounds, nice guitar collection, lots of fun, lots of information like One Hit Wonders and Number One Records ('Muso Page) - and when they happened BUZZARD - Here he is again in his latest incarnation, our man Keith still thumping those tubs, more Andy, Jim and Keith these days rather than ABK

Entertainment and Nostalgia

The INNES BOOK OF RECORDS - Neil Innes of Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band fame - some brilliant little clips and samples on this site. Kept me laughing for hours. (If you never saw the TV series, you'll NEVER understand) DEPUTY DAWG - my hero, say no more!

Favourite Guitar and suchlike Sites

AMERICA = Ed Roman Guitars = lots of pictures

AMERICA = Mannys Music  - I walked in here purely by chance while in New York once!

ENGLAND = Guitar, Amp & Keyboard Centre at Brighton (My favourite shop since Carlsbro closed)

AMERICA = Rickenbacker - home of that white bass guitar that is this week's favourite banjo

Music Venue Related (loads of information on people and bands you thought were long gone, but are still with us - worth looking at for useful information and related web sites, even if you never get to go to the places!)

Running Horse, Nottingham (cosy!) - well it was once. You get redirected to Barry's Blues nowadays, but essentially- that's what you want anyway!

Fleece & Firkin, Bristol (brilliant web design on this one .... once - seems to have changed!)

The Robin, Bilston (all my ageing heroes play here) and it's certainly worth a visit

The Diamond, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottingham - EVERYBODY has played here! More likely to find 'tribute' bands nowadays

ŠAndy Flett - 2009 (For what it's worth- although I may consider pursuing Persistent Rip-Off Merchants, so think on!)
