Long Tailed Tit

Aegithalos caudatus

The Long Tailed Tit is not in fact directly related to the other common members of the Tit family resident in the UK.

They are a resident bird and are largely insectivorous. For much of the time, Long Tailed Tits will move about in large family groups, often working their way backwards and forwards along tree lined hedgerows, or flitting from tree to tree in deciduous woodland.

For digiscoping purposes, Long Tailed Tits can be extremely frustrating, due to their habit of being constantly on the move. This is often compounded by the fact that they will take up superb poses, only to disappear the second before the shutter release is pressed!
