Lapwing

Vanellus vanellus 30cm

Lapwings are found in a variety of habitats from moorland to wetland, and are common at sites like Belvide Reservoir, a West Midland Bird Club Reserve, just north of Wolverhampton.

In flight Lapwings are very easy to identify, with their broad black and white wings and distinctive call.
