Last Concorde

Concorde 216 was the last production Concorde to be built at Filton.

On 20th April 1979 G-BFKX took off on its maiden flight and I was lucky enough to be there to photograph it as it climbed away. More images below.

I managed to capture the take-off standing on the roof of my Dad’s MG 1100 saloon car. The flight was supposed to have been at lunch-time but was delayed until later in the afternoon. As can be seen from the images the sky was threatening rain but just as she rolled down the runway the sun came out. I wish I’d had some means of recording the roar of the engines - but note that there’s hardly any visible exhaust - a different story to pre-production take-offs.
