100 reasons why 2-cell aileron mixing wont work - but were going to try anyway


OK this is the idea, two actuator either side of the fuselage positioned centrally on the aileron hinge.

Too heavy

Suppose we reduce the o/p of the voltage doubler to 3V. max current from PIC = 25ma. V=IR so coil can be 120R i.e. nearly half the size => half the weight.

Not enough force from the above arrangement

Yeah I guess half current means less force, wait and see.

The two sides will be magnetically coupled

Probably.

Too much current

Shorter flight time until batteries catch up and realise there destiny.

There is no centre force so ailerons will be forced up

The Rejink (OK I'll search for the correct spelling add a link later!) system uses the magnetic effect of one actuator to centre the other. I think I can see how this works, but suppose we add a third small magnet halfway between the coils and a bit behind. This should provide a centralising force.
