Proxxon MF70 Micro Mill CNC conversion

Here are some pictures of work completed on the Proxxon CNC conversion.

An early test piece

Milled in oak, this was one of the first 3D things I tried.

Port block for a tiny steam engines based on Tubal Cain's "Jenny Wren"

Note the two 0.7mm port block holes are 1.24mm apart. The bolt head in the picture is 10BA (2.8mm diameter).
The curve of the bracket matches the outside diameter of the boiler (22mm diameter).

One spider leg!

Inspired by the work of crabfu steamworks http://www.crabfu.com/steamtoys/
Just one leg so far, all CNC'ed on the Proxxon

Experimental hovercraft

This project never went very far, but the body was milled from a expanded foam.
The fan was milled from nylon, the dressmaking pin gived an idea os scale.

Walschaert Valve gear

Milled from sheet brass. The pivots are 12BA bolts.

A low temperature sterling engine

This illustrates that larger items can be made on the mill.
The flywheel is 110mm diameter, the spokes were cut using the mill in two passes, rotating the flywheel inbetween.
The standard that support the bearing was a simpler CNC job.

Parts for a Peatol (Taig) lathe leadscrew

My lathe didn't have a leadscrew, These CNC parts are the support brackets and half-nut for a home made one.
There is a litle more information of this here: http://www.gaspode.co.uk/Leadscrew

Cutting gears on the mill

This is a 10 tooth mod 0.8 gear cut directly on the mill

Brass name plates

Made for a friends model traction engine, the plates where cut on brass using a 1mm cutter.

An index wheel for cutting gears on the lathe

Two outer rings of 27 holes, giving 54 positions and an inner ring of 13 holes. Try doing that by hand!
The index wheel is bolted to a support on the Petol cross slide.

Motor mount for my new CNC Mill

The last job on the Proxxon was to CNC the motor mounts for my new mill!!.
