                                                                   Poynton A  v Stockport Vikings A

Sunday 10th February 2008

The Match today at Deva was third versus fourth place, and promised to be a good competitive game.
The home side kicked off playing towards the Chester road end on what looked like a spring day in spite of it being mid February!

The boys got off to a flying start in the first couple of minutes when Paisley took the ball into the penalty area passing to Perry whom in turn played it to Kelly burying his chance putting Poynton 1 - 0 up

The game restarted both sides working well but any chances falling to the Vikings were being cleaned up by Cambell, Martin, Paisley and Tweedy. Hulme was advancing on the left and fighting for every ball, with Simpson, Bell, and Kelly winning the struggle for control of the midfield, Bell attacking the left flank did well and won the boys a corner, promptly taken by Potter, Kelly again obliged 2. 0 to Poynton.

Potter was causing problems with a number of good runs and speculative shots, the game was giving all present a footballing treat, high energy, quick moving and very entertaining.
The Vikings best chances went to George Wilkenson who brought a couple of saves out of Wadsworth.

Perry took a couple of chances narrowly missing and made some insightful through passes. Kelly made Poyntons third goal putting Potter away 3- 0.

The first half ended with Poynton 3 up, every player on the pitch deserving a pat on the back. The visitors kicked off and immediately took the game to Poynton they weren’t going to give up without a fight.

Vikings pulled one back through their talented number 9 Wilkenson who put a peach of a shot past Wadsworth 3 -1.
The possession was going to the Vikings for a while, and Perry was brought back to assist the tiring Poynton defence.
Perry seeing Hulme free placed well weighted pass, Hulme narrowly missing the goal.

Potter came close a couple of times to scoring narrowly shooting over the bar and passed the post, the second half was not going Poyntons way but they fought well with a bolstered mid field and the game ended 3 .1 to Poynton,

Kelly x 2  Potter x 1
