Great Moor County B v Poynton A
Report: Match report Date: 30/09/07 Report: Phil Perry.
The boys travelled to the home of Great Moor for their third game of the season .The weather was dry and overcast , and the pitch was in good condition. The home side won the toss and the match started, both sides keen to get on with it.
- Both sides were in the process of feeling each other out, when Perry went on a run into the right side of the opposition penalty area and threaded a pass through to Bell, whom half volleyed the ball into the back of the net 1. 0.
- The game restarted, Great Moor immediately going on the offensive, however the Poynton back four Kemp, Campbell, Hulme and Martin were on form ,and when the home side did manage to get through on goal, Keeper Wadsworth snuffed out any sniff of an equaliser.
- Wadsworth continued to command his area well ,continually feeding his outfield players with a stream of well placed passes. Captain Simpson put in numerous solid challenges, leading to a healthy amount of possesion,which the free running Paisley and Kelly were quick to act upon.
- The possession , leading to Paisley rifling Poynton’s second into the back of the net, from a pass by Perry a case of poacher turned game keeper for the second time of the match.
The boys continued to play well, in particular Hulme finding his feet in only his third turnout for his new side advancing on the right on numerous occasions. Campbell and Kemp made some timely challenges and fed the ball to the forwards on more than one occasion. Potter continued to cause the Great Moor defense no end of trouble, and it was a precision corner from him which led to the boys third . Perry following in a strong header from Paisley. The first half ending with the boys three up not for the first time this season.
- The second half got under way with an addition of Tweedy in for Kelly. However Great Moor pulled one back, a half save Wadsworth falling into the path of Moors player Morris. It was 3 1 memories from the previous Prestbury game were in everybody’s mind.
- Hulme put paid to any thought of a comeback, putting away Poynton’s fourth from a Paisley corner.
- The boys when playing the ball on the floor were at time impressive.
- The lads had a goal disallowed for offside - a product of some good passing football - but the fifth was unavoidable coming from the advancing Potter 5. 1.
Wadsworth kicked out a precision ball to the man of the moment Bell with a peach of a shot on his left, hitting Poynton’s sixth and his second of the game . The game ended 6 . 1 . A feeling of expectation rising in the minds of the Poynton supporters, brought about by a performance which promises some good football to come in coming weeks.
