Poynton A v Inter Cheadle
Sunday 27th April 2008
The Poynton Lads welcomed Inter Cheadle to Deva today, a very slippy wet pitch was to play its part in a very entertaining match. The lads were joined by a recovered James Kelly who was raring to go. Poynton were to go ahead first, through Potter from an excellent ball via Campell, 1- nil to Poynton.
There followed a very hard fought period of entertaining football from both sides, with action at both ends of the pitch.During one of the visitors attacks a shot was fired low and hard at Wadsworth (keeper) this and the slippy surface led to an equaliser it was one all.
Perry was to put the lads back in front with a well taken shot, 2- 1 just before half time. The visitors were soon to equalise from a very well worked goal 2-2 but soon after they went ahead for the first time from another well structured attack 3-2. It fell to Perry to equalise, the striker quick to see the Inter keeper off his line, struck a beauty from near to the half way line 3-3.
Kelly back from his injury was soon to strike the cross bar, then Perry struck the bar! Bell was working well on the right and was winning the ball regularly. Martin came to the fore making his presence felt as usual, and indeed turned the tide in Poynton’s favour when he went on a run and fired a thunderbolt of a shot into the back of the net, 4-3 Martin was soon to put one over the bar as was Kemp. Potter stuck away number five and six, the game ended 6-3 to the Poynton lads.
Poynton scorers Potter x 3, Perry x 2 Martin x 1.
Cammys men of the match Kelly and Martin.
