Poynton A v Signol Athletic
Thursday 10th April 2008 A cold wet slippy pitch greeted the lads at Tangshutt playing fields this evening, a rescheduled fixture from early on in the season. The home side kicked off and a period of competitive mid field play commenced both sides working hard. Potter was the first to try his luck on goal ,but not on target on this occasion,Signol soon replied with their own effort clipping the bar, Wadsworth scrambling to save.
The boys were putting some good play up the left, Bell having run a good 50 metres won the lads a corner from which Perry beat the keeper 1 nil to Poynton. Mcclaren and Bell were linking up well on the left and Martin was working hard winning tackles.
Perry having charged down a clearance outside the box, beat a defender and the keeper in a one on one slotting the ball away nicely 2 - nil, but to the home sides credit they were soon to be on equal terms and the first half ended 2. 2.
The second half kicked off and Poynton were soon 3 - 2 up, Bell putting Potter away. The game was not over however and Signol again pulled level 3- 3. A number of efforts on goal were unsuccsesfull by the Poynton lads and the Signol side kept at it,their commitment was rewarded with the winner ten minutes before full time, the game ending 4- 3 to the home side.
Poynton scorers Perry x 2 Potter x 1. Cammys Man of the match went to keeper, Wadsworth.
