                                                                                     Poynton A v Norbury Athletic

Wednesday 26th March Poynton “A” were hosts to Norbury Athletic on this this cold breezy afternoon at Deva Fields.
The boys had previously defeated the visitors earlier in the season in a convincing manner, and from the kick off it was apparent that the visitors were no match for the Poynton lads.

It was going to be another cold match for goalkeeper Wadsworth Im afraid. The first goal of the game went to Potter from a rebound off the cross bar from a Perry shot. 1- nil to the boys.

The game restarted with Campbell, Kemp and Hulme snuffing out any Norbury attacks. Kelly, Simpson, McClaren and Paisley were running the midfield and were gelling very well.

Perry was the next to score from a pass by Potter 2- Nil to the home side.
Simpson after some hard work put a pass through to Mclaren whom slotted away Poyntons third, but soon after the home side were down to ten men as an injured Kemp was taken off the pitch.

The visitors attempted to capitalize on the one man advantage, and not for the first time this season Wadsworth was quick off his line to smother a 50/50 ball. The first half ended 3 nil.

The second half kicked off and the game continued similarly to the first half, Kemp returned with no apparent ill effects from his earlier injury.
Kelly got the fourth Poynton goal from a pass by Perry, the midfielder side stepped the Norbury keeper and slotted away a beauty.

Potter having been taken down in the area converted the consequent penalty 5 -nil. Hulme put away Poyntons sixth from good work by Kelly.
Perry shot at goal, the keeper only managing to deflect the ball into the path of Potter who put away the home sides seventh and his hat trick!
