17/09/08 Poynton A versus Curzon Ashton Youth
This was a tricky fixture, a night game away from home. The game started brightly with both teams pressing hard but it was Ashton who grew stronger as the first half progressed, they finally took the lead with a strong header from a corner, sending the Poynton lads in one goal down at half time. After Cammys talk and a team re-shuffle the boys came out for the second half to put things right. Poynton defended well with Alex McLaren making a great last ditch tackle, Poynton then started to push forward, a great ball from Humez releasing Rob Hannan who challenged the opposition keeper, the ball spilling to Rob Potter who lobbed into an empty net. No sooner had the game restarted when an awkward bounce wrong footed the Poynton defenders, leaving the Ashton striker to slot the ball home. 2-1 to Ashton and time was running out. The midfield were working hard with both teams competing in good spirits, with a minute to spare Ryan Paisley releases Rob Hannan who beats the last defender to finish off well 2-2. All that was left was the final whistle. A draw was probably a fair result with Cammy the happier manager with such a late equaliser.
