Sunday 9th September 2007 Poynton V Vale Juniors
The first competitive game of the new season for Poynton saw the boys travelling to Back lane Congleton.
The pitch had a good covering of grass but had a notable gradient in one half.
The boys lost the toss and Vale elected to play against the gradient for the first half. It was immediately apparent that this was going to be a very competitive game and that Vale were a very fit tight unit. The Poynton boys went behind to a scrambled goal from a free kick early on. The battle in midfield continued and Vale were proportionately first to the ball. Poynton did have three notable attempts on goal. One from a run and shot from Bell ,One header from Kelly from a free kick taken by Potter and an opportunist strike from Perry narrowly skimming the bar. However Poynton were hit on the break by Vale with a shot that gave keeper Wadsworth no chance. The half time whistle was blown and Poynton went in 2-0 down at half time
The boys came out with a fighting sprit after the managers half time talk securing a sizable amount of possession. Again Poynton were hit on the break, going 3-0 down. There were a number of unsuccessful attempts at goal by the boys in the second half as they continued to battle to no avail and went down 4-0 to a stong vale side.
