as it waits for its next duty at Ferryhill Depot, Aberdeen. The Class 06 Built 'Barclay' Shunter
was developed by Andrew Barclay Ltd. of Kilmarnock, using Gardner engines.
Design speed 23mph, Number Series D2410-D2444, then 06 001-06 010.
They were allocated to the Scottish region throughout, and many were taken
into departmental service upon withdrawl. Mass withdrawl took place in 1968,
but the surviving examples were withdrawn slowly up until the last one was
taken into departmental service in 1981. That machine (06003) is
now preservation. On the right can be seen Hornby's Class 06 (06005). |

No 03059 The Class 03 'Drewry' Shunter, Design speed 15mph Number Series D2000-D2199/D2370-D2399, later 03 001~03 399. This shunter uses a 204hp (152kW) Gardner engine with a mechanical transmission system, equipped with a five-speed gearbox, all gears may be used in both directions of travel. Sometimes these shunting locomotives are used on branch freight trains or between groups of sidings.There is a class 03 in full working order at the National Railway Museum where it is used to move large exhibits around. Bachman have modelled the Class 03 03197 pictured right. |

![]() | 03113 was Withdrawn from BR service at York TMD (YK) in August 1975, then worked at Milford Haven Oil Terminal (Waterson) for many years, later becoming a static exhibit outside Milford Haven Maritime Museum.
