The main rules are posted on the flying site caravan.

Summary:

1. Ensure your model can achieve 80 Decibels at 10m.*

2. Ensure that no more than 3 models are flying at one time. This includes both IC and electric.

3. Do not fly close to the South Scarle village. Use the lane running behind the flying site and the field boundary nearest the village as limits.

4. Cease flying after 4:00pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank holidays (except electric models, which can continue until the usual 8:00pm). The normal flying times are 10:00am to 8:00pm

These are self imposed rules that we have in order to maintain a good relationship with local inhabitants. Breaking any of the above rules will be taken as a serious offence.

Further general rules and guidlines are in use as recommended by the BMFA.

* We have equipment on site for noise testing. The level of 80db is 2db below the BMFA recommended level. However, we have been using this level for some time now and we have many modellers who find that this can be achieved with care. Our largest model so far meeting 80db uses a 120 size 2st engine. Electric models do not generally have any problems meeting 80db. For IC engines, you may need to use a larger pitch or larger diameter propeller than you are used to using and/or use a silcone tube exhaust deflector to direct noise upwards. Ensure that the engine and other parts are securly fitted to avoid vibration. We maintain a log of noise test certificates and require all new models/engines/propellers to be tested.
