Step 10
- Now make the removable part at the front of the steam tank.
- Next make two triangles that are the same angle as the front.
- Hold them up with pieces of balsa wood for support. Make sure it is the right height.
- Put it in position on the front.Do not glue it.
- Cut pieces of 1mm thick balsa wood so it is a bit bigger then the hole.
- Use balsa cement to glue the wood in place. Only onto the triangles made and not onto the main section of the steam tank
- Pin the wood in until the glue has dried.
- Repeat steps 5. , 6. and 7. for all the other side of the tank.
- When this is done trim the balsa wood off where it is too big, but make sure it is bigger then the hole.
Step 11
- Cut a circle the same size as the top of the turret. For the door.
- You can either stick it on the top as the closed door
OR
- Cut it in half.
- Glue it to the top of the turret so the doors are open.
- Cut 4 tiny pieces of balsa wood 2mm x 4mm, 1mm thick and glue them from the door to the turret.
Step 12
- Cut out 2 circles, diameter 22mm from 3mm thick balsa wood.
- Glue 3 supports 16mm long onto one circle then glue the other circle to top of the supports making sure it is central.
- Cut pieces of 1mm thick balsa wood so it is a bit taller then the side but only a bit around it, this is for the side of the cylinder.
- Use balsa cement to glue the wood in place.
- Pin the wood in until the glue has dried.
- Repeat steps 3. , 4. and 5. for all around the cylinder.
- When this is done trim the balsa wood off where it is too big.
