Here's
what the Greenock Telegraph had to say;
U2
favourites come to Greenock
GEORDIE
guitar group Hurrah! who are favourites of rock superstars U2, play Green-ock's
Rico's this month as part of a British tour.
The band who have just released their first single for two years "Big
Sky", have a gig lined up for the local nightspot on 19 April.
Hurrah! performed as special guests to phenomenally successful Irish band
U2 at Wembley in June, '87, prior to becoming the first Western rock group
to play dates in Iraq. This tour included shows in Egypt and Jordan where
they played to packed houses and managed in no uncertain terms to tell
Allah they were there.
The four-piece band from Newcastle were signed up by the city's Kitchenware
Records in 1982 and during that summer they released their debut single
The Sun Shines Here.
Their first LP in 1986, Tell God I'm Here, gained some of the best reviews
of theentire year - Q Magazine said the band had the knack of "making
things sound like they matter intensely", while Melody Maker called
it simply "The
Album of the year".
After a successful British tour, American dates followed suit as the band
fought their way across the continent as part of the Four-play Tour, receiving
acclaim in the process.
Their new single Big Sky is the first track lifted from the group's forthcoming
album "The Beautiful" which reaches the shops this month.
The lads' other Scottish gigs include Glasgow's Fury Murry on 20 April,
The Venue in Edinburgh on 21 April, The Venue in Aberdeen on 22 April
and the Dance factory, Dundee on 23 April. Tickets for the gigs are on
sale now.
