STIRLING
Scotland 2003 Home
Stirling is know as "the brooch of Scotland" as
it clasps the Highlands to the Lowlands.
It has always been of vital strategic importance to the control of Scotland:
hold Stirling, and you hold Scotland. That is why the Battle of Bannockburn
was fought here, and the victorious Scots sent the English packing!
Stirling has an impressive castle, perched atop 200 ft cliffs, it was the
ancestral
home of the Stuarts who went on to rule both Scotland and England.
