Tories
Try to Kill Town Centre Pool
At a Council Meeting on
July 21st The Tories
were up to their old tricks again, trying to scupper any chances of repairing the
Town Centre Swimming Pool before 2006.
They had previously tried to do the same thing on March 2nd.
The pool needs urgent attention as it is 7 YEARS beyond its design
life.
Despite a petition of 7,000 signatures wanting to keep the pool open, the
Tories wanted to stop the freeing up of money to start early repairs and force its closure in
2005. More>>

Labour
Punches Above its Weight
in new Administration
|
Cllr
George Hood,
Deputy Leader,
Basingstoke and Deane
Borough Council |
 |
The
2004 elections were bad for Labour locally
with the loss of 3 seats bringing our numbers down to just 12 councillors.
However, in the new Lib-Lab Administration, Labour has managed to retain 4
out of 8 cabinet seats, despite being the junior partner in a 12-16
coalition with the Lib Dems.
4 out of 12 councillors in the Cabinet proves Labour is punching above its
weight in Basingstoke.
Why
is this?
Because Labour delivers on its promises. Labour's policies work.
