Very disappointingly, there was a huge surge in bad knees and heavy colds in the few days leading up to this event.  The entry went from 18 to 8 players, which made the organisation of a meaningful event impossible. 
One wonders if it is no coincidence that this was the last weekend for the current ratings run or perhaps one is being cynical about why girls enter matchplays - is it for the enjoyment of playing tennis or merely to gain ratings points?
However five singles matches and two doubles matches were played, all in the spirit of "the show must go on."
