Baltacha Clinches First
Senior Title
Elena Baltacha won her first
senior international title when she beat Ireland’s Kelly Liggan in three
sets in the $25,000 tournament in Felixstowe. This week Baltacha, who
reached the third round at The Championships, Wimbledon recently, competes
in the $25,000 tournament in Vallodolid, Spain.

the $25,000 tournament in Felixstowe. Baltacha beat Manisha Malhotra of
India 6-4, 6-2; Ireland’s Yvonne Doyle 6-2, 6-3; fellow Briton Lucie Ahl
5-7, 7-6(4), 6-1 and in the final Kelly Liggan of Ireland 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

The
Felixstowe stage of the Hastings Direct Tour was won by Julia Smith of
Surrey. She beat V Vuletic
6-1, 6-3 in the final. This
week the Tour moves on to Frinton.
