The Greater London Deaf Association (GLDA) is the London region of the British Deaf Association. It is the only London wide membership organisation of BSL signers led by Deaf people. We work towards the same aim and policies as the national BDA.

London has the largest Deaf Community in the UK and it is united by a shared Deaf identity, British Sign Language, Deaf culture and history. Deaf Londoners also reflect the diversity of London as a whole in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, religion, languages and disabilities.

The GLDA campaigns to achieve equality for Deaf Londoners and British Sign Language. It does this through working with the Greater London Authority, the London Councils, the London Health authorities and other policy-making bodies and service providers.

We hold meetings that discuss and debate issues, which affect Deaf Londoners’ lives. These forums are the voice of London’s Deaf Community. Social events are another part of the GLDA where people can come together.

The GLDA is run by a voluntary committee, which is elected by members. If you would like to join as a member please click on the Membership page which will take you to the main BDA’s website.
