New Committee's Role

 

The GLDA is currently run by a steering committee. There will be an EGM on Wednesday 23rd July 2008, 7-9pm to vote for an official committee for a three-year term. 

The GLDA are looking for people who have experience and skills to join the new committee in the following areas: 

Chair: to co-ordinate the GLDA & lead the committee.

Secretary: to be responsible for arranging meetings, keeping minutes & send out information.

Treasurer: keeping accounts & knowledge of financial procedures.

Fundraising: researching potential funding & writing applications and other forms of fundraising.

Website/Email: to develop and update the GLDA website/database.

Events: planning/organising events. 

Interpreting: highlighting interpreting issues and to liaise with ASLI London region.

BSL Teaching: to liaise with the Trustee responsible for BSL teaching issues and be the contact point for BSL teachers/tutors and others on issues relating to the teaching of BSL in the London region.

Community: to liaise with local Deaf groups and clubs in London and support where needed. 

Youth: to provide a forum for young Deaf people (18-30)

Ethnic Minorities: to lead on BME issues

You can also get involved in other ways like volunteering to assist at events.
