|
St. John's was built in 1962 to serve the expanding residential area on the north east side of Luton. The church currently has a membership of around 90. Our minister is Rev. Andrew Orton.
Worship
Morning Worship is at 10.00. On the first Sunday of each month this takes the form of 'All Age Worship' when the Youth Church remain in church for the whole service. On other weeks the Youth Church go out to their own classes after the first part of the service. Coffee is served in the hall after the service.
There is no regular evening worship at St. John's. Regular evening services are held at Leagrave High Street, St. Margaret's, Barton and High Town Methodist Churches. Details of all services at St. John's can be found here.
The sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated once every month. Everyone who loves God is welcome to take communion. Our communion table was a gift to the church from Casa Materna.
Music
The church uses a mixture of traditional Methodist hymns and modern worship songs. The hymn books we use are 'Hymns and Psalms' and 'Mission Praise'. The singing is usually led by the organ or piano. The 16 member music group play for the first Sunday of the month.

A variety of activities go on in the church. These include Rainbows, Boys' Brigade, Ladies chat club and Munch club.. The premises are also used by outside organisations including St. John's Pre-School, Karate, Twins & Triplets Club, Slimming World and the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
