Lake Batur, Kintamani

Tours

Being located in central Bali, you will be ideally placed to visit many of the more remote locations of the island. Lake Butur is well worth visiting, set within the caldera of Kintamani volcano. There are volcanic spring baths next to the crater lake and spectacular views of the mountains from the restaurants on the mountain ridge. And why not drop down to Besakih the mother temple, set on the south site of Mount Agung. This has to be one of the most impressive locations of Bali, with its pergoda temples and far reaching views.

Shopping in Ubud

Or journey east to Candi Dasa to explore pristine beaches, and excellent snorkling. Ubud, the cultural capital of Bali, is a 20 minute drive to the west, where you can experience the many restaurants and health spas, visit the Monkey Forest, spend all day hunting for bargains in the art market, or see the traditional Kechak dance and fire dancing. Celuk 10 minutes south from Ubud is where to go to find the shops and workshops of finely crafted silver jewellery. There are traditional stone carving work shops at Batubulan nearby. Journey beyond Ubud to visit Bali's botanical garden at Bedugal and whilst there visit the beautiful crater lake with it's enchanting lakeside temple.

Local temple walks

For the more adventurous local white water rafting is close by Bangli and may be arranged in season. And if you don't fancy getting in the car one day there are some hidden local walks. Just 200m in the tranquil valley below the villa is an ancient temple and impressive waterfalls. Or if you're feeling fit try the three temple walk up the side of the mountain (1km). Or visit the large Bangli temple walking through traditional Balinese villages on the way. (4km)
