I have written three books for Watts Publishing and updated and collaborated on other titles.
"Food Safety and Farming", "Drug Culture", and "The Effects of Farming on Landscape" are aimed at 8/9-14-year-olds.
They have been translated into several different languages and marketed around the world.
Friends of the Earth commissioned me to write a book called "Save Cash and Save The Planet Too" with Nicola Baird,
from Friends of the Earth.
Jonathan Ross said: "At last! A friendly read that can help you save money while saving the planet! Becoming a domestic
eco-warrior has never been so easy - or so cool!"
Thanks, Jonathan.
Here are a few tips from the book:
• Energy efficiency could save a family in an average three-bed semi with gas heating £200 a year on their energy bills.
• Use lemon juice and white vinegar to clean kitchen and bathroom surfaces – and leave the bottles of expensive bathroom and kitchen cleaner on the supermarket shelf.
• Join a car club and save up to £3,470 a year on the cost of running a car. If you are buying a new car, chose a fuel efficient model – it could save you up to £900 a year.
• Learn how to drive fuel efficiently, so reducing the cost and the level of climate changing carbon dioxide emissions.
• Buy less – swap and share items like garden and DIY equipment instead.
• Reduce your rubbish – and make your own compost.
• Save water in the home – have a water butt in the garden and water-filled plastic bottle in the loo.
The book has a website - www.savecashsaveplanet.org - with a forum for exchanging more planet- and money-saving tips
and a link for buying the book - printed on 100% post-consumer waste.
