Now And Then, Princess Rd At Corner Of Mauldeth Rd West.
See Below also, Southern Hotel, Victoria Inn and the White Lion then and now.

Below is the Southern Hotel on Mauldeth Rd West, Chorlton. I once worked there in 1967 between jobs as an assistant cellar man /porter, my workmate was Frank Shelmerdine who lived in the Chorlton area, I seem to recall his brother later working at the pub and I think his family were regulars. I also remember Sheps Banjo Boys playing there in the old vault before they made their name on opportunity knocks, later they played the Golden Garter in Wythenshawe as well as the Central Pier in Blackpool. Are they still doing the circuit I wonder? has anyone on the site got any more stories about the grand old place?
