Ashton Old Road School

I see you don't have Ashton Old Road School on your list, this school was on Ashton Old Road, Manchester, on the right going from Mill Street toward the city centre. It was a building of, I seem to remember, three stories with a play ground on top as well as on the ground floor, and had a high brick wall round it, and big gates that were shut when every body was in school. Enclosed is a picture off me, Raymond Stott, and class of 1950. I'm sat on floor first on left. After this school I went to Peacock Street, Gorton then Spurely Hey.

There are 4 other photos below this one

Spurley Hey Secondary School

Here's a from Spurley Hey when we were a mixed class. This ones 1956 Easter time Mr Martindale on left, and Mr Warmsly who was in the RAF in the second world war ( he use to say he was on the dam busters flights that bomd the dams, who knows) on the right, class teacher. I am sat on floor third from the right.

I have sent you a photo for Spurley Hey, Mount Road, Gorton. This is a photo for the following year, 1957 July with Mr Bordman on left, class teacher, Mr Martindale, headmaster is on the right and I, Raymond Stott is second from the right on the seats

This again is Spurley Hey, but this is for my final year befor leaving, 1958 with Mr Martindale on left and myself Raymond Stott second from the left, bottom row on seats, i think after this years class it became a grammer school and had mixed classes.

Having left Spurley Hey I went into engineering, and later after serving my apprenticeship, joined the Parachute Regiment. This is a photo in Germany aged 2, I am first on left company signaller
