Gorton Market Renewal
Work has now started on the renewal of Gorton Centre. Below there are five photos. These were taken from the entrance to Gorton library looking across from left to right at the market.
Photo 1 (furthest to the left) shows the old supermarket. This is being altered to provide a home to the out door and in door markets with a communual seating area in the centre.
Photo 2 shows the old indoor market alongside the old supermarket now be altered. The old outdoor market is directly behind the indoor not show
Photo 3 and further to the right shows a closer look at the entrance to the old market.
Photo 4 and further to the right shows the boardings put round to build a new Tesco Plus. Work has started.
Photo 5 further to the right again, shows the old Suburban Pub.just beyong the boardings. Once again it has survived in the renewal of this part of Gorton. The building sticking up on the left of is the Knutsford Road Junction with Hyde Road.
