Two School photos of Broughton Secondary Modern School for Girls, Duke
Street, Lower Broughton, Salford.

This photo was taken in 1953 and features Upper1A class.

The second photo below was taken in 1956 and features Upper 3A. Broughton Modern was split into two schools, one for girls and one for boys which I now think was a very good idea.

Our headmistresss was Miss A. G. Leek. Some of the teachers were - Miss Whitney (later married one of the teachers from the Boys school and became Mrs Hargreaves, Miss Maxwell (Art) Miss Hunphreys (Science),
Miss Horne (Domestic Science) Mrs Hibbert, Miss Wells, Mrs Arthur, Miss Mair an Miss Foster, the music teacher, to name a few. I would love to hear from anyone who was at school with me.
