Meet the team

Forestry Team The team has been very much driven by Graham "Sparky" Robinson but has been well supported by a number of regular WRG volunteers all of whom have received safety advice on the workings of the site and support equipment to enable a small team to work together safely and effectively. These volunteers undertake much of the ground work, operating chippers, creating habitat piles, charcoal burning, transporting and stacking logs and brushwood and where necessary burning wood debris.

Where needed, equipment such as chippers are hired in, but the team also use personal equipment such as chainsaws, tirfor winch & tackle, and oil drums for charcoal burning. The volunteers vary from project to project, and the team remains an open and accessible workforce enabling the skills learned to be passed on. It is anticipated that from time to time there will be other chainsaw operators on site where qualified to the NPTC standard.

pre start checks

The team (well, Graham) has produced its own Health & Safety Policy and always ensures risk assessments are carried out prior to beginning work, as a result of identifying a shortfall on these, Graham and Alison have also completed First Aid training.

The regular team includes Graham "Sparky" Robinson, Clive Alderman, Alison Johnson, Sue Webster, and Jen Leigh (WRG Logistics). Volunteers from other WRG regional groups are always welcomed.
