The Cromford Canal in Derbyshire ran from Cromford to Langley Mill where it joined the Erewash Canal. The total length of the canal was approximately 14 miles long. Unusually the canal has a stretch which is broad gauge and a stretch which is narrow gauge. These were separated by a 3,000 yard narrow gauge tunnel. The broad gauge section of the canal has 14 locks.
WRG Forestry joined London WRG in clearance work on the broad gauge canal adjacent to the tunnel entrance in November 2004.

We also took a day out between Christmas and New Year 2004-5 to join the WRG Christmas Camp on the Cromford. The work was mainly scrub bashing, and WRG Forestry assisted with clearing up stumps and felling a few small trees which were beyond the scope of a bow saw.

WRG Forestry returned to the Cromford a year later - between Christmas and New Year 2005-6 to assist the WRG Christmas camp with felling of trees along the edge of the reservoir. Many had their feet in the water, and involved chainsaw operators working at the edge of the reservoir, 6 foot below the level of the pathway. Clive and Graham carried out most of the felling work for these two days on site.
