(1) Park up anywhere convenient round Honley centre, and ride SW up the Meltham road away from Honley.

(2) After the playing field, take the right turn on the signposted bridleway across the fields on Chandler Lane. Head left and up when you're back on the tarmac.

(3) Turn right into the woodland, follow the obvious path, threading through the low branches and hillocks, reaching open moorland on the edge of the escarpment, with a very thin track through dense gorse and heather. Follow the edge along to the quarry, minding the small boulder outcrops.

(4) Follow the obvious track down the gradient back into the woods, past several natural outcrops and clearings. The path steepens into an exhilarating run down rutted and uneven track which can get quite boggy after long spells of wet weather. Continue out through a small area of industrial units back to the road. Take a few minutes to catch your breath.

(5) Into granny gear for the painfully steep and slow climb up out of Meltham to a right turn down a narrow track.

(6) Follow the track down to the small reservoir, along the bank and back out past wood nook, leading back to Meltham road.

(7) A short sprint along Meltham road, then off to the right cutting across the fields to Bradshaw road. Warning: This is a popular area to exercise horses from the local equestrian centre, so take care!

(8) Final Big steep downhill sprint past my house back into Honley town, to finish the loop.
