im the looker of the group.   Genius or nut-ball, probably a bit of both. Had a gift for words unlike anyone before or since. Could transport you, with his voice, to your wildest dreams/ nightmares and beyond. Luckily he met Ray at U.C.L.A or we may never have heard of James Douglas Morrison.

From the shy beginnings of The "Turkey Joint West" and "The London Fog" there exploded Jim Morrison rock super icon. Drug crazed piss head, Southern charmer, nihilistic poet with a death wish, raving psycho or enlightened shaman. Did anyone really know this amazing and complex man? No other rock star in history has been so demonised and deified at the same time.                                                                                 So what if he was a drunken bastard he was a smart drunken bastard. His poetry needs no more defence than his songs and so what if some of it makes you squirm in total embarrassment. At least he had the guts to put it where it could be judged and sniped at. When do we ever see his critics, who love to snigger juvenilely from the sidelines, put their artistic outpourings in the public domain for us to take the piss out of. (go for it cat-Alex) Without Jim and The Doors we would still be having the arces bored off us by the Beatles and their pathetic, childish "allyouneedislove  andIamthebloodywalrus" crap.                                                                             The Doors were more than genius they were enlightenment. No other band in history has scared us and made us think

as much as they did .( an impossible task for a band in the throwaway  M.T.V culture we inhabit today.) But most of

all they entertained us, they were never as sullen as they liked the "straights" to think and always allowed their humour to shine through the brilliance of their music. (check out the bootlegs)                                                        Jim Morrison a madman with the heart of a poet will

always live on in that music.                                        SP
