John Densmore -Drums |

Welcome once again to our Doors view pages. This time round we feature an affectionate profile of Howard Werth ( who nearly was Jim's replacement in The Doors) and his band Audience. We get annoyed about the box set again and wonder why The Doors never sit comfortably with the media. |

hn the moaning one. Practically never stopped whining during his days with The Doors but had the brains (apart from the odd spitting out of his dummy when he refused to play a couple of gigs) not to split. Without a doubt one of the worlds most gifted and original drummers able to underpin The Doors sound to perfection. His extraordinary ability to anticipate Jim Morrison created some of rocks finest moments with his dramatic exclamations to Jim`s most poetic ramblings. John`s book caused a great deal of controversy that still lingers today. (actually we quite like it weird as it is -ast ED) Appeared in the Doors movie as John Heany thus unwittingly or not endorsing "mad Ollie`s" brilliant and bizarre if not slightly untrue version of the Doors story. Certainly wound Ray up. ( he`s never shut up about it since - asst ED). Best moments post Doors the first Butts Band album and his writing. Look out for John's new novel about a young draft dodger and his prison documentary 'Road to Return'. Regardless of criticism from Mr Manzarek John Densmore more than earns his place in rock history. He was and remains 25% of the Doors brilliance. Whining sod -yes, but The Doors could never, ever have bettered themselves drum wise. Betcha glad you never joined Love. --eh- John! SP |
