St Mary's Church is situated in the heart of the city centre. During the wartime air raids it suffered heavy damage by fire and after the war it was restored.

Oxford Street is part of the main shopping area and Fridays are always busy. A small religious group are hymn singing whilst their colleagues hand out tracts to people passing by. .

This pedestrianised section of Oxford Street is a favourite spot for street vendors and here a balloon man hopes to attract customers. .

Further along we come to Castle Square. It used to be Castle Gardens but the City Council decided to replace the garden with a paved area.

It is school holiday time for the children and many of them are here in the Square with their skateboards. Whatever the townsfolk may think about the loss of the gardens, the children are in no doubt that the smooth paved surfaces of the Square are absolutely fine for skateboarding .

To the east of the Square, in the background, are the ruined walls and tower of Swansea Castle. The present-day remains dates from the late 13th to early 14th century.
