Within easy reach of Swansea, Caswell is one of the most popular bays in Gower. Behind the shops ,on the right, is the path which leads along the cliffside to Langland Bay. After a quick look at the beach we shall take the path and walk the one and a half miles around the cliffs to Langland.
The two shops at the entrance to the beach are kept busy serving a continuous stream of
customers. Ices, sweets, chips, bats, balls, buckets, spades, in fact, everything one needs for a sunny day on the beach is available. .
There is plenty of room for everyone.....
..... to enjoy the sea and the sands in glorious sunshine.
It's time for us to leave the beach and begin our walk. The buildings on the hillside on the other side of the beach are flats or apartments. .
Looking across Caswell Bay to the west, the far headland is Pwlldu Head.
We pause for a moment or two to look back at the bay. .
A well placed bench provides rest for weary limbs and a feast for the eyes.
The path stretches ahead of us along the side of the cliff before disappearing behind a small headland.
It isn't all flat, the path is steep in places. .
Below us, the blue green sea impacts on the rocks creating brilliant white foam patterns. .
Towering above us, limestone cliffs in summer green. .
We have arrived at the western side of Langland Bay.
A row of green and white beach huts follows the curve of the bay.
We walk along the esplanade to the far end of the bay and then back to the beach cafe for refreshments .
Rather than returning along the
esplanade we walk along
the beach to the far end where we rejoin the path back to Caswell. This elderly couple are enjoying a paddle in the shallows.
