My last walk ended at Hunt's Bay and it is from there that todays walk begins or to be more precise, from the cliff top above and to the east of the bay..

Out in the channel a fishing boat heads towards Swansea..

The cliffs are quite high.....

..... and I'm careful not to get too close to the edge .

Sheep are quite accustomed to feeding on the cliffs and manage to climb into almost inaccessible places in search of the tastiest titbits.

Cattle also feed on the cliff tops. I don't much like the look of this one so I'd better keep out of the way.

Before going over the top of Pwlldu Head let us look back at the view ... the rocky foreshore of Hunt's Bay and in the distance we see the golden sands of Oxwich. .

We have just descended the eastern slope of Pwlldu Head and are now in an area called Gravesend. Looking down from here towards the sea....

.... you will see (in the bottom left of the picture) a ring of stones . In 1760 the Admiralty tender Caesar was wrecked on nearby rocks and sixty eight men were drowned. The main reason given for such heavy loss of life was because a large number of 'pressed men' had been battened down under hatches. The ring of stones is said to mark the grave of those who perished.

My route now takes me away from the sea towards a stile at the top of a steep bank from where you can see the headlands of Caswell and Langland bays. In the background are the hills above Port Talbot.. .

I'm a bit breathless after the steep climb to reach the stile but I keep going for I know it's only a little further to where the ground levels off and I can sit awhile and enjoy one of my favourite Gower views. .

We are looking down into Pwlldu Bay.... further up the coast is the beach at Caswell. .

Having rested sufficiently, and having crossed two meadows, I am now in the lane which leads back to our starting point. This old cottage garden is somewhat overgrown but full of interest.

The lane winds between hedges and open fields towards Hunt's Farm and continues to Southgate. .

We have arrived at Hunt's Farm which is very near to where we started. Hope you will join me for another walk soon. .
