Southgate to Pobbles.
Weather: Sunny.

My walk today is quite short, in fact it is little over a mile in length, but within that short distance the scenery is a joy to behold. The car park at Southgate from where my walk starts is on the clifftop itself so I have but to step out of the car and my clifftop walk begins.
.
Foxhole is a small rocky inlet at the foot of the cliffs immediately below the car park. You can see a few people dotted about on the rocks above the sea.
The grass on the clifftop is kept short by grazing sheep which are, on most days but apparently not today, to be seen along the top and down on the side of the cliffs.
I went down the side of the cliff a little way to get a view looking back towards Foxhole. Patches of yellow/orange lichen add a touch of bright colour to the grey limestone of which most of the South Gower cliffs are made.
Looking now in the opposite direction you can see the sands of Three Cliffs Bay which are just coming into view.
The hill in the background is Cefn Bryn and is, I believe, the highest point in Gower.
There are only two or three benches along the length of this walk and on a sunny weekend they do not stay unoccupied for very long..
From this high point on the edge of the cliff you can see the wet sand of Pobbles beach.
Up until now, two of the three pointed rocks which gives Three Cliffs Bay its name have been hidden from view by the nearer and larger rock but as I make my way across to the path leading to the beach all three come into sight..
There are quite a few people in Pobbles today. Some just like to sit on the rocks and watch the waves rolling in.......others climb the rocks. If you look closely you can just about make out two figures at the top of the big rock on the left. .
The top part of the beach consists mainly of smooth rounded stones and is enclosed on the land side by high grass covered sand dunes. .
I hope you enjoyed being with me on my walk to Pobbles. ..........bye..
