Today our a walk takes us along the coastal path to Rotherslade Bay and then we return to our starting point at Limeslade Bay via a higher level path.
Limeslade is a small pebble strewn inlet on the west side of Mumbles Head.
A sandy stretch of beach becomes exposed as the tide drops.
The coast path we are following starts from Limeslade and hugs the very edge of the rocky coastline.....
..... from where we can look down at the breaking waves.
There is nothing straight or level about this path... it twists and climbs tracing out the contours of the shoreline.
Looking back along the path, we see Limeslade Bay with the Coastguard Station on the hill beyond.
We continue walking and then we get our first sight of our destination. Rotherslade is a small part of the larger Langland Bay.
A view across Langland Bay with its distinctive line of green and white day huts .
This is the Rotherslade end of the bay. The day is dull and cloudy but the weather doesn't put people off taking a walk on the beach.
... in fact , the little cafe at the top of the beach is doing brisk trade.
After enjoying a coffee at the cafe we return towards Limeslade along the top of the hill. Below us we can see the path we followed earlier and, further on, the sands of Langland Bay.
It is worth the extra climb for the wonderful views of the sea and the distant headlands of Pwlldu and Oxwich.
The path reaches the top of a rise and there in front and below is Limeslade Bay.
Just a little way to go now. Limeslade Bay is immediately below us and just beyond the line of cars is Bracelet Bay with the Mumbles Lighthouse in the background.
