PIKE FLY TYING MATERIALS
Alien Hair
Straight-A
|
|
| Alien Hair
Discovered after an extensive search of the Galaxy (well, a few bits of it!) this is probably the ultimate material for
tying Pike Flies.Alien Hair is extrememly hydrophobic so it will quickly shed water, which makes it much
easier to cast bigger flies. Tying flies with Alien Hair is simple, it holds its shape well under the extremes of Pike fly-fishing and it readily accepts permanent marker pens if you want to add spots and stripes. Hank lengths are approximately 12" Customers have also used Alien Hair to tie bucktail style lures. IN 2009 A PIKE OF 40lb 8oz WAS CAUGHT FROM CHEW VALLEY RESERVOIR ON A FLY TIED USING ALIEN HAIR!
This was a water record at the time, see Angling Times dated 19.5.09 for more details, or See the pictures here.

Straight-A
A straight-fibred version of Alien Hair. STRAIGHT-A is just as effective and
easy to use as Alien Hair, but being straight doesn't 'bulk up' so quickly when tied. It is
ideal for making smaller flies and for slim profiled fly patterns. In addition to being great for Pike flies, I
can see it becoming especially popular for specialist Zander flies, and for tying sea patterns for Bass etc.
