ZOOTA LURES

Mostly because they catch fish. 'Zootas' are specifically designed for catching Pike and other predatory fish here in Britain, they aren't just generic lure designs imported in the hope of catching fish (or anglers!). As a pike angler myself I design lures to fulfil my requirements, or those suggested to me by others who fish for pike and can't find what they are after elsewhere. How did Zoota Lures start?

Zoota Lures grew from a lure-making hobby that got out of hand!

When I first started lure fishing I bought a few lures, and also carved and turned some for myself from offcuts of wood. I caught pike on the shop bought lures as well as my home-made ones, but what I couldn't do was get the soft-plastic lures that were then available to work for me. Out of frustration I decided to have a go at making some for myself, and a little to my own surprise those first soft lures actually worked!

It was around this period that the overtime where I worked was drying up, so I was trying to find a way of earning a bit more cash, preferably a way that I would enjoy. Now I'm pretty ugly, and this unfortunately meant becoming a gigolo was out of the question (!), so instead I decided to 'bite the bullet' and booked a stand at the PAC Convention to see if my lures would sell. It was this that heralded the real beginning of Zoota Lures in September 2001.

Why the name?

I suffer from a chronic case of 'corny sense of humour syndrome', and the name was just a daft pun on the French expression 'Zut Alors' - I'm not even certain what it means!

How are they made?

Well some things are secret, but every lure is hand-made by myself from a tough soft-plastic that combines maximum durability with a great fish-catching action.

This plastic, along with the way the lures are are designed, means that Zoota Lures can withstand multiple fish captures. As a good customer recently remarked to me "I would like to buy some more lures from you Alex, but unfortunately for you the ones I've got keep catching fish but don't fall apart!".

All Zoota Lures are fitted with quality components including Eagle Claw treble hooks.
