It's early Sunday morning. Outside the pub at West Cross empty glasses from the previous evening remain uncollected on the picnic benches. Beneath a clear blue sky a gentle sea breeze drifts to the shore softly stirring the trees. The air is cool and fresh, a perfect morning for a nice easy stroll along the seafront footpath to Mumbles..

The seafront path follows the edge of Swansea Bay from the Swansea Marina to Mumbles, a distance of five miles. It is shared between pedestrians and cyclists, each having their own side of the path. I liked the pink blossoms in the garden on the right......

.............so took a closer look.

When I was at this spot earlier in the year, just in front of the stone wall was a wonderful display of daffodils. They have all died away now unfortunately - they certainly would have brightened up this picture if they were still in bloom. The roadway on the other side of the wall is the Swansea to Mumbles road and runs parallel to the seafront path. The building, which I believe is an apartment block, is fairly new.

Some of these houses have been converted to guest houses and small hotels. If you'd like a completely unobstructed view over Swansea Bay, this might be the place to stay. .

A leisurely walk with the dog is fine for some, others like something a bit more energetic like jogging......

.............or cycling.

Or perhaps to lean over the seawall railings and take in the view. A little further along the road, just beyond the approaching car, is the village of Oystermouth. It has a church dating back to 1141, a 13/14th century Norman castle and is the shopping centre for the Mumbles area.

Looking back across the calm water of the bay we see the western side of Swansea.

Sitting here on the seawall at Oystermouth on a warm Spring day reading the morning paper or just passing the time gazing out to sea .... what a good way to spend a Sunday morning..

Close by the path is CJ's winebar, I think these red and yellow flowers blend well with its painted wall.

I nipped over the railings to get this photo of the sea side of the wall.

On the left of the picture is the hazy outline of the Mumbles Lighthouse..

The gardens at Mumbles are always a delight to the eye.

Looking back towards Oystermouth. In the trees above the houses you can see the remains of the Norman castle.

Isn't Spring a wonderful time. Trees fresh green and blossom laden, ......

.......gardens ablaze with colour.

When the tide is in there is always plenty of activity in this part of Mumbles. It's a popular place to fish and is a centre for boating and sailing.

Waiting for the fish to bite.                           ....................'bye.
