Singleton Park is the largest public park in Swansea. It was purchased by Swansea Corporation in 1919 and was formerly the estate and home of the Vivian family. I am about to go through the Mumbles Road entrance so come with me for a walk around the park.

At the top of the park are the Botanical Gardens and are always well worth a visit.

Having left the Botanical Gardens we cross the park towards the University. The whole of the campus occupies land that once was part of the park.

Singleton Abbey, where the Vivian family lived dates back to 1780 and is one of the oldest surviving buildings of its type in Swansea. It is around this building that the original University College campus was composed. Originally, all departments were within the Abbey, but now it houses the central administration and all the academic departments are across the park to the west.

In response to several requests for pictures of the campus, I end my visit to Singleton Park with a few pics of some of the University buildings.

Looking out from the campus towards the sea. ....... 'bye.
