Virtual Instrumentation Presentation Software

VInstrumentation replace oscilloscopes, signal generators, reference voltage sources, panel meters, controllers, data loggers, etc in your laboratories. VIPS is supplied free with all VInstrumentation hardware and the latest version can be downloaded. DLL and assembler support is provided if you want to incorporate VIPodS into your own display routines.

The best way to appreciate the versatility of VIPS is to download the demonstration and run it on your machine.

Typical VIPS display

VIPS Software The screen dump shows a typical 4 pod system with VIPodS10, 20, 101/T and 50 fitted. The VIPod10 display is zoomed and shows the 8 ch oscilloscope or chart display.
The pod type fitted in a position is selected from a drop-down menu. The setup for each pod is selected in the same way.
The unzoomed displays along the top show the state of the inputs or allow control of the outputs.
Various types of virtual display can be selected for each pod type. The VIPod10 shown has DSO, Graph, Bar, Meter and List displays
The controls for the zoomed pod depend on the pod type and the display chosen.

General

The VIPS software package provides a variety of display functions dependent on the interface configuration fitted.

Displays 4 interface functions simultaneously.

Is supplied free with all VIPodS and VInterface hardware interfaces.

All VIPS software products will run under Windows 3.1, 95 and 98. VICL will also work under NT and 2000.

The version for the VInterface hardware is identical to that for the VI Pod System hardware except that, with VInterface, the functions of the 4 positions are fixed.

Analog Input Displays - VIPod10, 101 and VInterface
	Display	Feature
	DSO	Digital Storage Oscilloscope. 8 channels - up to 100uS sampling
	Graph	Low speed oscilloscope. 8 channels - up to 1mS sampling
	Bar	8 channels in bar graph format. Unipolar (bottom zero) or Bipolar (Centre Zero)
	Meter	8 panel meters with individual linear conversion to engineering units
	LIst	Previous samples in engineering units with time at which the samples were taken.
Analog displays can be scaled and shifted. Scale always shown in engineering units. All scales shown in engineering units. Two alarm levels (HH, HL or LL) can be set in each channel. Alarm outputs can be sent to a logic output pod. Data Logging and Data Dump also available

Analog Output - Signal Generator & Arbitrary Waveform Generator. 1 channel VIPod10/20 , 4 channel VIPod20 & 2 channel VInterface
Frequency range from 1mHz to 1KHz independently on each channel. Wave shape selectable :- Sine, Triangle, Ramp up, Ramp Down, Square, Random, DC Level or an arbitrary shape loaded from disk file. Signals can be synchronised. Amplitude and level controlled individually. Graph, Bar, Meter and List displays selectable. Arbitrary Waveform Generator using external file -

Temperature Measurement - VIPod101/T
Graph, Bar, Meter and List displays for 6 channels of temperature and/or millivolt display + 2 channel CJC. Any thermocouple over any range displayed to 0.1�C. C, F and K scales available. Local CJC and remote measurement.

Logic Input & Output Displays - VIPod30, 40, 50 & 60.
	Event (logic analyser), Annunciator and List displays for all 8 channels. Outputs set from mouse or by linking to alarms of analog units. VIPod50 has split display for joint input/output operation. Output logic sequence from disk file.

Programming Support - DLL & Assembler

A set of DLLs are provided which give access to the high speed assembler routines used to drive the pods.

Demonstration DLL programs are available in C, Delphi and Visual Basic.

Assembler drivers for all pods are available showing how the pods are programmed.

DDE Support

VIPodS and VInterface can be accessed via the Microsoft DDE system.

A program using Excel to access the I/O functions is provided with VIPS software.
