VInstrumentation in Education

VInstrumentation software and hardware provides a low cost alternative to oscilloscopes, meters, data loggers, signal generators, precision voltage sources, timers and many other data acquisition and display systems.

Your PC can display traces and numbers on a big monitor screen that the whole class can see. The PC can also be attached to a projection screen or multiple monitors in large lecture halls.

VIPodS, with up to 4 pods of various types, give a versatile system that can be configured for a wide variety of experiments. VIPodS work with laptop computers and are powered by the computer so can be used in field trips.

VInterface has a fixed hardware configuration allowing a wide variety of experiments at lower cost.

Easy Experiment Setup

  • Software configuration for each experiment can be saved and reloaded.
  • Display and operational controls changes made with point and click operations.
  • easy connect 4mm sockets on VInterface.

Education Oriented Software

  • The VIPS software package is ideally suited to displaying measurements and controlling experiments in student laboratories. The software was written by Dr Alex Gardiner who was, for many years, a lecturer in electronics and Control Systems
  • Download the VIPS Demonstration Software to see the benefits virtual instrumentation can bring. Specialist packages available now are:-
    Virtual Control Laboratory  - gives real-time on-screen signal generator, controller and graphic display.  Can be linked to a variety of control laboratory hardware.  Laboratory sheets for experiments will soon be available.
    Virtual Logging System - create a record of what is happening in an experiment.
  • A number of other packages are in preparation:-
  • Virtual Timing - Laboratory and Experiment timing, Sports timing, Quiz timing and Match timing.
    Operation of DAC and ADC - the student becomes the DAC or ADC controller.
    Fourier Waveform Generation & Analysis - Compose and decompose complex waveforms.
    System Identification - Time and frequency black box system identification.
    Thermocouple Measurement of Temperature - using VIPodS 101/T pod.
