The Scrapstore provides a variety of clean, safe, non-toxic materials, which are available to members of the toy library to use in their own arts and craft activities.

Traditionally people have always saved cardboard tubes and washing up bottles for children to make into wonderful creations, the Scrapstore takes that idea a step further. It's a simple idea, which is growing in popularity. There are now about 80 scrap stores across the country.

The Scrapstore combines a growing concern for the environment with a financial benefit for companies. A staggering 80% of landfill waste comes from industry. Companies often have to pay someone to take waste away and leap at the chance at giving it away to a scrap store. So the companies benefit, the community benefits and the environment benefits. Did you know that for every ton of paper recycled, 17 trees are saved?

The Scrapstore boasts a wide array of exciting materials including bubble wrap, leather offcuts, CDs, fabric and plastic lenses from glasses. However, we're always looking for different materials so if your company has anything which is clean, safe and non-toxic and you think the children could use it, please contact us.

To use the Scrapstore to enhance the creative play you offer, all you need to do is join the Lend and Play Toy Library and pay a small fee for every carrier bag of scrap you take away.

Unlimited use of the scrapstore for a year (within reasonable limits) is £25:00 which may be useful for larger groups.
