Because the UK is part of the European Union, we are allowed to bring back drinks and cigarettes without having to pay any tax or duty. But Customs Officers have been trying to stop people bringing back large quantities for their own use.Parkside's Liberal Democrat campaigner, Alan Winter says: "Being part of the EU makes moving around Europe much easier. I'm glad that the High Court has intervened to protect our rights as European Citizens." Strict labelling of GM foodsLib Dems in the European Parliament have voted for strict labelling of food containing Genetically Modified (GM) ingredients.MEP, Peter Duff (Liberal Democrats) explained, "Consumers in Houghton Regis are entitled to know whether items on the supermarket shelves contain GM products or not, so they can choose."
