Luton Carnival 2005

30 May 2005 = I stood in the sunshine with my daughter watching the Luton carnival 2005 for two and a half hours. Thousands thronged the streets to see the procession. The worst of it was trying to find somewhere decent to stand to get a reasonable view. We discovered a ramp and stage close to the library, and of course, all the positions immediately in front of the stage were well occupied already. I spotted a gap with a view to the exit ramp of the stage and that's where we stayed for the duration. It was an abissmal place to take pictures from, and this selection below is very cropped down to cut out the crowds, and security control people, who obscured the view. If I have a message for those responsible for putting this marvellous event on, it is, P l e a s e - find a way for many more people to get a proper view. Everyone loves to take a picture, just make the job easier for us all. It might save the destruction of bus shelters as people clamber on them to gain vantage points.

I don't know who this guy was, but thanks for giving us one of the very few laughs of the afternoon!

Oh my, Aren't we a happy bunch ...
