After 20 very happy and successful years showing my Dobermanns, a change of circumstances in my life plus a total ban on tail docking, in the not too distant future, made me decide to get a Basenji, a breed I have always admired, and I can remember thinking to myself, I will have one of those one day.
A friend and I went to the Basenji Club Champ. Show just to have a look, and yes, by the time the show had finished my first Basenji puppy was booked. His name was Juba, who went on to be Ch Chaanrose Partner In Crime At Zordia, Top Basenji 1998.
Well, he seemed lonely so we thought we would buy him a friend to keep him company, and we were lucky enough to hear of someone who had a 3 month old bitch puppy, this of course was Jingle.
Well of course, if you have two lovely Basenji and their pedigrees are compatible, it is a waste not to breed from them, and then what is the point of breeding if you are not going to keep one (how many times have you heard that story?) so here we are today, the proud owners of a pack of Basenji’s.
I often compare living with Basenji like living with a toddler, as they are always up to something usually no good, but Alan, my partner, and I couldn’t imagine life without these naughty but nice little dogs.
