Jacob Henry Gooding

In December 1852, at the age of 14, Jacob travelled with his parents and siblings to Victoria, Australia, on the ship Bombay.
Jacob worked for a time at Waiorongomai station between Lake Wairarapa and Palliser Bay, owned by the Matthews family, where he earned a reputation as a top Wairarapa shearer.
Jacob and Sarah later farmed on their own behalf further north along Western Lake Road.


Walter Edward Gooding

During World War I, Walter served as Private 32274 with the Auckland Regiment NZEF.
Walter passed away on 29 March 1919, aged 36, at Greytown Hospital following a car accident.
